Religion is a specific fundamental agreed upon by a number of persons or sects. The 5 main religions in the world are Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam.
The first religion I will talk about is Hinduism. Hinduism is a very interesting religion. This religion has been evolving over centuries. Although there is no founder of Hinduism, they believed in the god, Brahman, who had multiple personalities. So people may consider this religion either polytheism, which is the belief of multiple gods, or monotheism which is the belief of one god. Some of their basic beliefs are things such as reincarnation, karma, cremation, moksha, and Atman.
The second religion is Judaism. The origins of this religion is Palestine, Eastern Mediterranean, and Israel. The Hebrews worshipped Yahweh. They are monotheistic and they believed in Yahweh. The leaders of this religion are Moses and Abraham. Moses was considered a leader because he led them out of slavery. Abraham was considered a leader because he had the protection of Yahweh. Yahweh gave him protection because Abraham promised to obey Yahweh.
Next is Buddhism. The origins of this religion are in India. The founder is Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha's mission was to learn about the world. He also sought Enlightenment and how to escape human suffering. Siddhartha later became Buddha. Buddha is who all of the Buddhist people follow. He began to teach his followers. He preached the Four Noble Truths, which is the basic philosophy of Buddhism. The goal of the Four Noble Truths was to follow the Eightfold Path to achieve Nirvana. Nirvana is a perfect state of understanding and peace. It's a release of selfishness and pain.
Over time, the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth developed into a new religion-Christianity. The origins stemmed in Judea. The Bible says Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem, near Jerusalem, and grew up in Nazareth. Over time, Jesus began to preach a message of redemption and warning. As he traveled through Judea, he gathered a small group of disciples, or followers. Jesus and his disciples performed miracles of healing and by defending the poor and the oppressed. After Jesus's death, his disciples began teaching that all people could achieve salvation. Among those who worked to spread Jesus's message were twelve disciples whom Jesus had specially chosen. Called the Apostles, these twelve men were the earliest Christian missionaries. The Apostles spread the word of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire.
Last out of the five religions is Islam. The origin of Islam is Israel. They worshipped Muhammad, he was born into the clan of powerful Meccan family. One day the voice of Gabriel called to Muhammad as he was praying. They considered Muhammad the last prophet of God. Allah was the one and only God. Allah was the God to the Arabians. Their basic beliefs of Islam is faith, prayer, Alm, fasting, and pilgrimage shari'a.
